Oh this was fun! The fairies had a birthday party. We started with the birthday cake, in fact the fairies had three birthday cakes. We made special red playdough layer cakes decorated with beads. I originally saw this idea on the gorgeous blog Love and Lollipops, where you will find great ideas for the humble bottle top.
Once the birthday cakes were made, we needed a venue. A cardboard box did the trick, Cakey covered the bottom of the box with pva glue and sequins. She then added some decorations – articifial flowers, poms poms, feathers, shells and extra bottle tops. Cakey also tossed in the broken coloured eggshells that we had made for Easter using the beautiful idea from paint cut paste.
I cut pink card triangles for the mini party bunting. Cakey decorated the bunting with sequins and I helped her peg them onto string. The string was suspended from two sticks held in the box with playdough. Playdough is excellent in little world play as it can help anchor all your elements.
On the other side Cakey taped small balloons onto another suspended string. These balloons were actually normal sized balloons that I only blew up a tiny bit.... which is actually harder than it seems!
