Fun with paper planes

The kids are sick and snotty at the moment so I was after an easy activity we could do in between chunks of television time. Paper planes hit the spot. We used two colour paper – it makes for cheery paper planes and I think the colour contrast makes them easier to fold accurately.

For paper airplane ideas I always visit Alex's paper airplanes – there are loads of different paper planes to try out. Today, I went with the classic dart paper airplane – an easy plane to fold, that flies magnificently. Alex has a handy YouTube video with the instructions on how to make paper airplanes.

I made a handful of these simple paper planes very quickly from A4 (equivalent to US letter) and A5 paper. Cakey tried to make some too. She found it difficult to fold them with accuracy but with a little adjustment by me we got her planes to fly.

We had some fun throwing, chasing and catching them in the backyard. It was a nice interlude in an otherwise sedentary day.
