Art and craft in the everyday

I was busy looking through my photos covering the last year or so and I noticed I have a lot of photos of our everyday art and craft activities... the bread and butter stuff that I have not blogged about. This is what the bulk of our art/craft time is spent doing – we don't sit around making Chicken World and Christmas Angel Table Lights every day. In fact, a lot of our art and craft activities are done with our pajamas on in the early morning.... and my mind does not work until I have ingested the contents of my coffee pot.

So I have put together a photo essay of the simple, non-messy, process oriented, everyday art and craft activities that we do to feed Cakey and Boo's creative souls.

We muck about with pipe cleaners

We arrange flowers

We stencil

We string beads
We stick stuff in playdough
We cover things with sticky tape

We stick pieces of paper to other pieces of paper

We make jewelry from paper and string

We make cars for toys

We thread

We make books

Did I mention we go through a lot of sticky tape?

  7. We love sticky tape as well... I love these I don't blog about the every day arts and a crafts or play that we do - as I think most people do it anyway but talking with people at playgroup they say they have no idea where to even start... The most common question I've been asked "What do you get them to paint!" very hard to explain that you just let them paint adults have a lot of trouble understand the fun of doing something just for the fun of doing it and not with a purpose in mind

    1. My daughter found using the tape dispenser frustrating at first but once she got it she was then able to create without constant help getting the tape off. I do use good quality tape which is easier to tear for little fingers. Thanks for stopping by.

  17. Please...my daughter had paper tapes that required licking or light sponging with water to stick...like older postage stamps or an envelope. Now that she is "mother" and I am "grandmother", she asked me to try and find these again. they were paper and came on a 1 1/2" wide roll. Are your "sticky" tapes paper or what? Any help would be welcome.

    1. Hi, my sticky tape is cello tape so not the sort you lick and stick. I don't know where you can buy lickable stickers but you can make them. Here is a link to a tutorial:
      http://frugalliving.about.com/od/craftsgifts/ht/Make_Stickers.htm

It involves mixing gelatin with water, painting it on and allowing it to dry completely - and then you have lick and stick stickers. I hope this helps.
